Once again, congratulations to the winners of the Young Concerto Competition – (from left to right) Leslie Ashworth (violin), Aled Blundell (trumpet), Matisse Blundell (trumpet), Feiran Bi (flute), and Linda Ruan (piano). Thank you for an amazing musical experience!

The Oakville Chamber Orchestra would like to congratulate and welcome Alberto J. Munarriz as our new General Manager.

Alberto is an ethnomusicologist, a professional double bass player, a music pedagogue, and a published scholar with a broad range of interests. The focal points of his academic work include the musics of Latin America, jazz, analysis, historical and contemporary performance practices, and music pedagogies. He is especially interested in the ways these concerns intersect with broader issues of transnationalism and interculturality. He has over fifteen years of experience as a music instructor and has recently returned from Edmonton where he taught at the University of Alberta. He also worked as a music coach and advisor at IHuman Youth Society, an Edmonton-based organization that engages traumatized youth exhibiting high-risk lifestyles. Prior to his appointment at the Oakville Chamber Orchestra Alberto served as member of the board of the Toronto Latin American Flute Festival.

He competed his Ph.D in ethnomusicology at York University. He holds a MA in Musicology from the City University of New York and also has a BMus in Jazz Performance from McGill University.
